Living in the North East of England is brilliant for a lot of reasons. The coastline, the countryside, the people — there’s nowhere quite like it. Road salt and winter conditions

Anyone who’s driven in the North East through winter knows that the roads are heavily treated with salt and grit from late autumn through to early spring. Road salt is highly corrosive and one of the most aggressive threats to a vehicle’s paintwork, metal surfaces and undercarriage.

Salt doesn’t just affect the underbody — it gets kicked up by traffic, lands on painted surfaces and sits there. Left in contact with bare or poorly protected paint, it accelerates corrosion and can cause real damage over time, particularly around wheel arches, sill edges and lower panels.
